No. You only need the API key for the AI provider you want to use. You can add OpenAI, Anthropic and Gemini keys if you want all three choices.
Do I have to pay for AI usage?
Not necessarily. Some AI providers may offer free-tier API usage or free models. Availability and limits are controlled by the individual AI provider and can change. Free models may have tighter usage limits, slower generation, lower output quality or be more likely to time out during longer ebook creation. Premium models generally provide more capacity and may produce better or more reliable results. Any paid API usage is billed separately by the AI provider connected with your own API key.
How many story ideas are included?
The Front End Edition includes 15 horror categories with 20 ideas in each category, for 300 ready-to-create story concepts.
Can I make my own story instead of using a Vault idea?
Yes. Build My Story lets you choose the category, character, age, setting, threat, ending style, length, scare level, author name, subtitle and optional story seed.
What story lengths can I choose?
You can choose Quick Scare at 2,000–3,000 words, Scary Short at 4,000–6,000 words, or Scary Ebook at 8,000–12,000 words. Longer projects require more AI calls and more generation time.
Can the software create a cover?
Yes. The cover workflow supports OpenAI or Gemini image generation when the matching API key and image model are configured. You can also upload your own cover.
Does it create the subtitle and Book Description?
Yes. You can enter your own subtitle, or leave it blank and the software can create one from the finished story. The Book Description is also generated from the finished book.
What formats can I download?
The software can create PDF and EPUB ebook files, and you can also download or copy the manuscript as text.
Where are My Stories saved?
Saved projects are stored in the browser/device used to create them. Download finished files you want to keep, especially before clearing browser data or moving to another device.
