Choose the character, setting, threat, ending, length, scare level and more.

Let the app randomize the concept and story setup for you.
Before creating your first book, open Settings and add at least one AI API key. You only need one provider to begin. Add more if you want a choice between ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini.
Set Up Your AI Writer
This is normally a one-time setup on the browser or device you use.
Open Settings
Use the left menu and click Settings. You will see separate areas for ChatGPT/OpenAI, Claude/Anthropic and Gemini/Google.
Add An API Key
Paste the API key for any provider you want to use. You do not need all three keys.
Choose Models
Choose the story/text model for each provider. OpenAI and Gemini also have image-model choices for cover generation.
Save Settings
Add your default author or pen name if desired, choose whether to remember keys on the device, then click Save Settings.
The AI writer is chosen when you create the book. Click Create My Story with ChatGPT, Create My Story with Claude, or Create My Story with Gemini. If that provider does not have an API key saved, the app stops and sends you to Settings.
API Key Reminder
Your API keys are not included with AI Scary Stories. Use your own provider account and API key. Keep API keys private and do not share them with other people.

Each of the 15 categories includes 20 ready-made story concepts, each with a title and premise.
Search & Favorites
Search for a particular theme, title idea or type of story, then save ideas to Favorites for later.
Build Your Own Story
Use this when you want more control over the finished ebook.
Choose Your Story Options
Enter your own subtitle if you want one. If you leave it blank, the AI creates a story-specific subtitle from the finished book and includes it in the PDF and EPUB.
Quick Scare: 2,000–3,000 words | Scary Short: 4,000–6,000 words | Scary Ebook: 8,000–12,000 words. Longer books require more AI calls and naturally take longer to complete.

One Click Randomizes The Setup
Scare Me selects the category, story seed, character, setting, threat, ending style, length and scare level. Review the result, choose ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini, and let the app build the ebook.
What Happens During Generation
Building Story Blueprint
Creates the private blueprint for characters, clues, continuity, reveal, climax and chapters.
Writing Chapters
Writes the book chapter by chapter while keeping names, facts and plot details consistent.
Checking Length
Counts the real manuscript words and can extend chapters if a longer selection is short.
Creating Book Metadata
Creates the subtitle and bookstore-style Book Description when needed.
Saving Ebook
Adds the completed book to My Stories on that browser or device.
For an 8,000–12,000 word ebook, allow more time. The app may extend chapters and perform extra AI calls before the book passes the minimum word-count check.
Review And Finish Your Ebook
Once generation finishes, the book becomes your working project.
Download PDF
Creates a 6 × 9 PDF with cover, title page, copyright, Book Description, Table of Contents and chapters.
Download EPUB
Creates an EPUB ebook with the same core book sections and saved cover.
Expand Ebook
Adds more story content when you want a longer manuscript.
Edit Book
Change the title, subtitle, author and story text.
New Titles
Generate alternate title ideas for the same story.
Book Description
View, copy or regenerate the story-specific description.
Narration
Creates a narration-ready version of the story that you can copy.
TXT / Copy Story
Keep a plain-text copy for editing, backup or use in another tool.
Read through the finished story, verify names and continuity, check the title, subtitle and Book Description, and make any edits you want before distributing the ebook.
Create A Different-Looking Cover
Use Cover Mood Presets and variations to keep covers fresh and distinct.
Start With Image Prompt
On the finished-book screen, click Image Prompt . This opens Image Prompt & Cover Studio.
Click Spin Variation to change the color world, lighting, composition, visual treatment, typography direction, texture and creative emphasis while keeping the story itself as the foundation.

Save, Organize And Publish
Use My Stories and Favorites to keep your workflow simple.
My Stories
Open generated books, download EPUB, edit the book, create or replace the cover, view narration, or delete a project.
Favorites
Save Story Vault ideas for later so you do not have to hunt for them again.
Your saved story library is stored in the browser used to create it. Download finished PDF, EPUB or TXT files you want to keep, especially before clearing browser data or moving to another device.
Your 60-Second Publishing Checklist
- Choose Story Vault, Build My Story or Scare Me.
- Choose the AI writer and generate the ebook.
- Read and edit the finished story.
- Confirm the title, subtitle and Book Description.
- Click Image Prompt and choose a Cover Mood Preset or Auto Detect.
- Generate or upload the final cover.
- Download the PDF and/or EPUB and open the file once to verify it.
- Publish or distribute according to the marketplace and licensing rules that apply to your use.
Quick Troubleshooting
Most problems can be solved from Settings or by checking the selected provider.
API Key Required
The provider button you clicked does not have a saved API key. Click Go to Settings, add that provider key and save.
Generation Stops
Check the API key, model selection and provider account. Longer ebooks require more calls and can take more time.
Cover Will Not Generate
Make sure the matching image-provider key is saved and an image model is selected. You can always upload your own cover instead.
Book Is Missing From My Stories
Saved projects are browser/device-specific. Make sure you are using the same browser profile and have not cleared browser storage.
Need A Different Cover Look
Open Image Prompt, choose a different Cover Mood Preset and click Spin Variation before generating again.
Need A Different Story Direction
Use Build My Story for precise controls, or return to the Story Vault and choose another concept.
